Neuro IOM Services, under the diligent and professional supervision of Cathleen Zippay and Dr. Shlamowitz, has elevated the intraoperative safety and effectiveness of my surgical practice to a level unsurpassed by any university hospital. By monitoring 100% of my spinal operations. Neuro IOM Services intraoperative electrophysiologic monitoring has identified many patients from permanent nerve injury that would have been identified several hours later.
Neuro IOM Services has identified many developing neural compressive palsies caused by patient positioning or retractor positioning. This professional service, managed by a well-trained team of electrophysiologists, has allowed the surgeon to intervene and reverse the problems. I cannot and will not perform spinal surgery without well-trained, physician supervised electrophysiologists monitoring such as provided by Neuro IOM Services.

I have worked with Neuro IOM Services under the supervision of Cathleen Zippay and Morris Shlamowitz M.D. which has elevated the quality of intraoperative neurophysiologic monitoring and effectiveness of my surgical procedures to a level of unsurpassed by any facility. I have counted on them to be reliable, punctual, and accurate for over ten years. They are flexible enough to keep up with rapid changes in my surgical schedule and care enough to be familiar with my surgical techniques. I consider Neuro IOM Services to be an invaluable member of my surgical team. They have been instrumental in discovering developing nerve injuries and have prevented patients from possible permanent nerve injury that may have been identified at a much later time. They have identified developing neurocompressive palsies caused by patient position or retractor position. Their professional service has allowed me to intervene and reverse possible or potential problems, reducing minor and major permanent nerve damage. I will not perform spinal surgery without well trained physician electrophysiological monitoring such as that provided by Neuro IOM Services.

Over the past decade, the contributions of Neuro IOM Services, under the supervision of Cathleen Zippay and Morris Shlamowitz, M.D. to my surgical practices are too numerous to count. As a neurosurgeon I have had the opportunity to utilize their services in both cranial and spinal surgery. Their availability, professionalism, expertise in the operating room and a desire to expand the contributions of their field through continued training is unparalleled.
The margin of safety added to my spinal surgeries, with identification of spinal cord or nerve root pathology upon positioning or intraoperatively has silently aided many patients to good outcomes. In cranial surgery they have been invaluable, expanding their practices to encompass my need for deep brain recording during movement disorder surgery.
In short, I would not consider my preparation for surgery complete without the presence of Neuro IOM Services in my operating room.

What has working for Neuro IOM Services done for me? The company itself is a very professional company that is well run and respected by surgeons in our community. When I walk into a hospital, I feel the respect and know that I am welcomed because of who I'm with, not who I am.
Neuro IOM Services has given me a chance to grow as a monitorist and as a person. The support of other employees in the company is without saying. When I realized I would have to work for a living, being a husband and father to two, I decided to seek my dream job. It had to be in a helping profession, like medicine, and involve cutting edge, rapidly expanding technology, like neuroscience.
The company I gave my time and talent to had to recognize me as it's most valuable resource, and prove it by paying well, provide a great benefits package that included health insurance, retirement planning / profit sharing and paid vacation, and time and money for continuing annual education. And, since we're talking dream job, flexible scheduling that allowed for a personal life, most weekends off, a nice holiday party and a year-end bonus would be great!
